Dieses Buch ist hervorragend für alle Einsteiger der Netzwerk-Programmierung mit C unter Linux geeignet. Das Werk ist nachvollziehbar aufgebaut und die Beispiele leicht verständlich.Jedoch kommt dieses Buch nie an die Klassiker der Netzwerkprogrammierung von Richard W. Stevens heran. Dafür fehlen die interessanten und tiefgründigen Hintergrundinformationen.Wer den Einstieg in die Netzwerkprogrammierung wagen möchte und schon mit den Grundlagen von C vertraut ist, dem empfehle ich dieses Buch. Wer ein bisschen mehr will, sollte direkt zu "UNIX Network Programming" von Stevens greifen.
Sicherlich bietet das Buch eine Einführung in die Netzwerkprogrammierung unter Linux. Allerdings sind einge Beispiel fehlerhaft programmiert. Sie laufen zwar, sind aber an der ein oder anderen Stelle z.B. bei Verwendung der select-Funktion, etwas fehlerhaft implementiert. Wenn man auf Grundlage dieses Buches Socket-Programmierung betreiben will, dann aber ohne Verwendung der Programmes des Buches als Grundgerüst.
